3. CCG: What advice would you give to girls who don't think they are "Priceless"?
Joel Smallbone We really hope to convey that we believe that women are Priceless and to really change our mindset in the modern context. With all of the smart phones, billboards, movies and music-- there is a seemingly underlining thread of ideology that a woman's worth is found either in her figure or how she is received or sometimes not received by men. The real heartbeat of this Priceless movement is the fact that as humans, as ladies, we are image bearers of God - each unique in a radical way. Your definition as a young lady is not found in how your dress, what you look like or your connections with a man, but it is in the fact that you are loved and created wonderfully by God.
4. CCG: What sparked the idea for this film?
Joel Smallbone: The script for both the movie and the book is an extension of the Priceless message so deeply resonating with our community.
We are moved as young men in the middle of the journey of marriage and family, understanding what it means to love a woman, to protect your eyes, to treat women in general with respect. I went to Ben about making a film on this topic, and he recalled editing a documentary - a 60 second piece of a man who had grown up in the world of slavery and the family was involved in recruiting slaves, prostitiution, human trafficking. With a blurred face due to protective services, he shared that he had a massive conversion and used the system against itself to pull the ladies off the street. He ended up falling in love and marrying one women he saved from slavery. We married these stories together, and handed off the synopsis to 2 screen writers. We also decided to do a novelization of the film to give a deeper insight into the storyline and to allow people to get a glimpse of the movie before the release.
