finishing sixth in race 1 behind 2013 State series winner Rod Barrett after some intense competition from c0-ZR drivers Paul Vernall and Cody Hill.
Sunday's fine conditions enabled Gidney to build upon his strong Saturday progress.
The final MG race on Sunday was cut to just eight laps due to incidents in other categories and then delayed further when the #65 MGF Cup Car of Aemel Nordin experienced a right rear wheel issue on the warm-up lap.
When regularly programming resumed, Gidney made a superb start, bolting ahead of (2013 Club Champion) Cody Hill and Paul Vernall to slot into fourth position by lap two. and then set about chasing incumbent State Champion Barrett.
The pair would trade times within just a few tenths over the next four laps until Barrett braked a fraction too late entering Honda, enabling Gidney to slip through and stretch the gap over his nearest rival by some six seconds.
"Today was a great day", said Chris after the final race. "The car had a bit of a miss yesterday but we powered through and had a great dice with Cody Hill"
Race two was great to win our class in the Trophy race. In race three I was able to pick off a couple of cars to record my first MG podium."
The result now places Chris Gidney in second place in the Victorian State Championship - 11 points behind the ex-Mort Fitzgeralld V8 of Richard Milligan.
