FOODWORKS YUNGABURRA
Like a Phoenix rising from the Ashes,
Foodworks Yungaburra was rebuilt after
a devastating fire destroyed it in 2015.
The store was completely rebuilt and is
now bigger and better than it once was,
but some things have stayed the same.
Kate and her dedicated and loyal team
have always been committed to helping
and serving their local community. They
are renowned for providing good old
fashioned customer service that many of
us still remember, my visit to Foodworks
Yungaburra served as reminder for yours
truly.
How long has YUNGABURRA FOODWORKS
been operating?
Yungaburra Foodworks has been operating
for more than 35 years. The store was
rebuilt after fire destroyed the store in 2015
into a bigger and better shop.
Who are your main types of customers?
We have a mix of demographics in and
around Yungaburra, mainly families and
quite a large percentage of professional and
higher income families who Yungaburra to
be their home.
What is it about your store that is distinctly
different from other supermarkets?
We are a Family Owned and Operated
business. Our customers see us working in
the store everyday and we make of point of
knowing as many of our locals as possible.
We want our customers to feel like family.
Our staff are also all local, they too take
much pride in their job and our business.
What are the changes in peoples buying
habits you have noticed over the past couple
of years?
Since rebuilding our store we have been able
to stock varying options for consumers and
there has been a clear shift to health and
diet specific foods. Also it’s becoming more
important for quality over price. Particularly
in the produce and gourmet departments.
What are the fastest moving categories
within your store?
Fresh Produce is our key category,
Yungaburra is full of families who want good
quality produce every day, and they want to
be able to park at the door, grab what they
need and get out. We’ve very recently joined
forces with a Click and Collect Organic
Produce supplier which seems to have
created a great deal of interest.
What trends do you predict over the next
twelve months?
I see our Health range continuing to grow.
What made you decide to introduce the
natural health foods and wellness products
into your business?
I have a young family myself so initially it
was something I wanted to introduce for my
own benefit but quickly realised that families
are becoming more conscious of what they
are feeding their children.
Where do you see the natural health sector
heading in the next couple of years?
Only continuing to grow.
What changes would you like to see occur
within the Natural Health and Wellness
sector?
Range, it would be good to see more
Australian Organic lines.
What excites you about working at
YUNGABURRA FOODWORKS?
I love what we do, we are lucky to have
a very supportive community and a
community that care about small business.
It’s fun to see something you are passionate
about “work” and grow.
