apolis. Started in Leadership Development and Organizational
Development. Switched to liberal arts because I am more inclined as an artsy kind of guy. I’m a writer, I’m a poet, I love
my music! I was getting into the world of Internet radio, so I
needed to learn about digital platforms. So I changed to Liberal
Arts, with hopes of going back when I get my internet radio up
and running effectively, for a master’s in Social Services.
Presenting, Harold “HB” Bell, also known
as “Jumbo Love”, entrepreneur, author,
encourager and now College Graduate! Excerpts from our conversation:
Chosen: What made you stick to go back to school after all
Chosen: Because we graduated from High School together, I
this time?
HB: Honestly, Leah you know me well enough to know that
you let the spirit lead you. The opportunity to go back to
school really came about with me writing my book. I didn’t
know that was going to be the reason why. So many of these
things transpired when you let go and let God so to speak. I
wrote the book Wordspiration to
bring about awareness to my wife’s and mine
Nonprofit, Community R.U.L.E. That led me
to after writing the book to have the opportunity to talk to young people about how important
continuing their education would be. The last
speaking engagement that I had, I had a young
man about 12 to 13 ask me where I went to college and graduated, because he wanted to be
like me. Needless to say, that sparked and
spurred me to say okay, you learned how to use
these tools on the computer when you had to
write your book. Now you can use these tools
to go back and be educated. A lot of the excuses I made about
not having time and all that to go back, I was so busy were a
wash now because you can go back to school and do it all
online. When I was challenged by that young man, my thing
was about if I’m gonna preach it and teach it, I got to be about
it. So that’s what spurred me to go back to school, the challenge of a young man that I was so emphatically telling, you
have go get your secondary education in the 21st century or you
will be limiting opportunities in your life. That’s what did it!
Chosen: That will do it! So what university did you choose,
what was your degree?
know we graduated in 1977, did you go to college at that time?
HB: I went for one semester to Kentuc
