Meadowood Located just two miles from arguably the most picturesque town in Napa, St. Helena, Meadowood is situated on 250 acres private estate land. Surrounded by lush and thick forest on rolling hills, Meadowood sets the standard for great hotels everywhere in Napa. First built as a private club for members-only, it was bought by its current owner, H. William Harlan, and transformed into a hub for social, cultural, and viticulture life. Staying at Meadowood feels more like a wealthy friend’s grand home than a hotel. Each of it’s 85 cottages, suites, and lodges come with large roaring fireplaces, private decks overlooking the hillside, and plush king-size beds. Room type depends on the style of trip you are trying to take in Napa. If you’re traveling with children, stay in one of the Suites or connect two rooms to make a two-bedroom Suite with separate living area. The property also features two cham pionship croquet lawns, 9-hole golf course, hiking trails, two pools, and the top new spa in Napa. Meadowood is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a larger resort experience with the ultimate in privacy and serenity. What truly stands out about Meadowood is the level of service; the front desk immediately greets you by name and the hospitable staff at the hotel seems genuinely pleased to see you. Vineyards The only way to figure out the best coupling between you and a vineyard is to know what you like, or if you’re new to wine, to try a little of everything. Napa Valley is known for their incredible Cabernet Sauvignon but beyond that, the most popular varieties are Merlot, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In comparison, Sonoma has almost double the acreage of vineyards planted in Napa Valley and they are best known for their Chardonnay (unoaked), Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Red Blends, and Sparkling Wine.
