Incontri creates a sophisticated world where the philosophy of incorporating artisanship and tailoring in every collection. S. Hearing the call within your mind, what was your emergence of ‘the dream’ to express yourself through fashion? A. The traditions of fabric research, handcraft and tailor made have bee n methods passed down from my family. It’s not always that something must be re-done, but rather is the beauty in the simplicity continues on. S. As with everything, comes fear and resistance. What and who were your obstacles in this journey? A. I started this journey knowing that it would not be easy and that I would have to rely on my strength. That’s why I have great respect for people who take a journey with artistic strain and carry on with tenacity despite a thousand difficulties. It takes time, tenacity and a great humility. Fear and resistance are parts of people and we need to coexist with them to find our inner spirit and creativity. S. Can you determine at what point was the turning point for your journey? A. My path as a designer first began from my studies in art and architecture. I started a consulting studio in 2000, collaborating with Italian artisans and international brands and then in 2009 Andrea Incontri a RTW and leather goods collection was born. My turning point was the 2010 “Who’s on Next” edition that I won with leather goods and that gave me a great visibility.
