THE SIGNATURE GRAPES Every country has to put their signature or fingerprint on an industry, considering what they do best or what sets them apart in the global context. In the world of wine, South Africa has two grapes that help define their place: Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. Chenin Blanc, although of French descent, has found a true calling in South Africa. It is a versatile wine that can taste crisp, light and refreshing all the way to medium- full bodied with lots of texture and complexity. It is also a wine that can age really nicely. Pinotage is South Africa’s signature red grape. It is a grape that was created in South Africa by crossing Pinot Noir with Cinsault (locally once called Hermitage, hence the blended name – Pinotage). It’s unique to South Africa and known for its chocolate, leather, coffee and smoke characteristics. This wine is a fantastic choice for smoky barbecue flavours and a great bottle to discover with friends. Vinum Chenin Blanc Grinder Pinotage
