Canadian pop singer Jacynthe took some
time from her busy schedule to talk about
her musical career, which includes such
hit singles as “Locked Down” and
“Music To The Sound.”
What do you think about when you’re
performing?
When I first started singing many years ago,
I used to think about all the things that
could go wrong, such as tripping on stage,
forgetting lyrics or dance moves and I was
really stressed out for at least half of the first
song I’d perform. Now that I’ve gained from
experience and that I’m older, I try to put
things into perspective and take a step back.

sing and do what I love and I try to let loose
and have a great time. I still feel stress and
butterflies in my stomach, but I manage to
turn these things into positive energy and

to the end of my high school, I went to a
school that focused on arts, music and theater called F.A.C.E. I was in the choirs and
played the trumpet. Music has always been
an important part of my life. I became the
lead singer of a small gospel choir at the age
of about 14 years old and by the end of my
secondary 5, I was signed to KLM Records
who is now Whammo Music.
Best advice ever given?

Galati used to always tell me that before a
performance and although I heard it, my
pride and the fact that I am a perfectionist, at times to my own demise, I could not
really let it happen. Now when he tells me
that, I really feel it within me and I have as
much fun as possible.
First song ever sung?
