Suzanne Cohon in MaxMara jewelry by Dean Davidson SUZANNE COHON Principal of ASC Public Relations With a professional background in advertising sales, having recently moved from New York, and with no available positions in Canada at the level she expected, the plans to position her career in the business 10 years ago, was definitely not the ideal scenario for Suzanne. One day without knowing, her career took a turn during a casual conversation between her husband and their mutual friend, Galen Weston. - The word frustration kept coming out in conversation; Galen mentioned that his fiancé was facing the very same challenges. Together the two men decided that her and I should put our heads together and talk about it. Soon after, over a lunch meeting and a handshake, ASC Public Relations was born!- says Suzanne. After 10 years as principal at the Toronto headquarters, Suzanne and the team at ASC Public Relations keep taking challenges and moving forward. From accounts in the fashion industry to others in the fitness world; this reputable agency and team keep innovating and cultivating a strong portfolio of clients and relationships. Family is Suzanne’s number one priority, but so is her trusted team. - When I leave the office at the end of the day or end of the week, I leave with the confidence knowing I have the very best team to handle any work situation in my absence. At some point I was at a crossroad, not sure if I should walk away from having my own business, stay as-is or take a leap of faith and grow the company. Well, I took the leap and since then I’ve only looked forward and have never looked back - says Suzanne. Staying focused, constantly coming up with new ideas and having a fresh perspective to bring to the table are part of Suzanne’s outlook. - Looking back at my childhood, the best thing my parents ever did for me was teach me what it feels like to work for and earn my own money – It is both, empowering and freeing. I am determined to do the same for my daughter and instill a strong work ethic in her as she grows- says Suzanne. Beauty Tip- Stay physically active. Exercise is the driving force for me when starting my day. It energizes me, keeps me focused & from a vanity perspective – helps me fit into my favourite jeans. In Suzanne’s “Must Have” List- My old-school day planner. If I can’t see it on paper, in writing, then it just doesn’t exist!
