During the parade demonic statues and floats
fill the streets symbolizing
bad spirits and at the end
of the night the floats are
all burned as a symbol of
cleansing the evil away
for a positive new year.
The following day you
are not supposed to leave
the house or use any
technology to cleanse and
reset for reflection and
meditation and focus on
peace within ones self.

NEW
YEARS
EVE
My first night in Bali
just happened to be the
Balinese New Year’s Eve
called “Nyepi” or “Silence
Day.” The whole island
participates in a ceremonial parade known
as “Ogoh-ogoh” this is
where Crash Bandicoot
got inspiration for the
Ogoh-ogoh man!

The Balinese culture is truly beautiful and it made me even more
grateful for everything life has to offer and experience.
Aspire to inspire, nourish your knowledge and discover your love
for culture. I love you, Bali.
