For investigative journalist Carolyn Jarvis, there are no half measures to
a story - the Chief Correspondent is always fully immersed. From rock
climbing to reach a cave in the Rockies to interviewing a man using 3D
printing to make a gun, Jarvis finds it difficult to choose her favourite
piece. It may all sound taxing, but she fervently uses her skills in “bringing
about change” by telling a good story. “We inform the viewer, sparking
discussion and empowering people to make sound choices.”
The “cross Canada hopscotch”
There’s no East or West side in Jarvis’ book – she’s lived on both sides of
the country. Born in Toronto, the reporter has lived in Edmonton, Red
Deer, Ottawa and Vancouver. “Toronto is home now. It’s such a vibrant
city and the arts scene here can’t be beat.” While Jarvis has a bond with the
Great White North, her heart is on the opposite side of the earth. “Africa is
incredibly soulful,” she says. “Its people are rich with life in ways the West
doesn’t always grasp.”
