We are often asked how we make this family-owned and operated business work for us and you. The answer is manifold and just as there are layers to our family dynamic the same applies to this venture. We are sisters who do so much together already. Please understand that we don’t always work well together and we do aggravate each other (just a little). From the beginning, we did our best to show respect for each other by giving equal ground going into the business. Since the business has grown in so many ways, it became necessary to step back and assign certain tasks to each of us based on our personal interests and talents. We allow each partner to be an expert in her own field of interest. Not only does this create a balanced business relationship, but it also prevents arguments when crucial decisions need to be made or when problems arise.

Additionally, we don't let family relationships interfere with business decisions. While we may argue over a dolly or computer time as siblings, when discussing the business or having a disagreement, we mostly omit the family dynamics. While no one is deemed a weak link in a certain area; we just choose to foster and motivate each others natural

capabilities. No one is forced to do something that they find absolutely daunting. And, fortunately, our parents, extended family and/or village will step in where needed. Nowadays, we’ve identified our strengths and allow those to shine through each assigned task. We are partners and not employees; It is our belief that no business partner should be made to feel that they can’t eventually change roles throughout our journey. Also, though we give each other titles like CEO or CFO, there isn’t actually a hierarchal system at Bourne Brilliant LLC (except that our parents are always THE Parents).

We always put relationships first by remembering that at the end of a work week we are family first. We use our own struggles and successes to offer our community and customers a genuine experience. Please understand that we are not totally removed from this business as a family unit; meaning that often we ask ourselves what families and kids need and/or want in order to identify a new problem and solution. We’ve identified our needs as a family in order to formulate our menu, workshops and even the information that is shared on our social media platforms and through media coverage to give you a relatable experience. Lastly, we have no interest in ruining our solid family bond over business obstacles. We’ve set boundaries and respect and believe that there should always be a positive way to solve problems. We hope to continue using our family chemistry as a way to further fuel this enterprise.
