In the ancient days the Ox play (dummy bullocks) was conducted by the agricultural workers of Valluvanad. They had to satisfy their land lords and goddess performing their role in this festival. The ox was their favorite god. The women accompany them with their rhythmic feet and inform the presence by reciting their own rural songs. The head of ox is carved in wood and the body is decorated with colorful clothes and ornaments. The scintillating display of bullocks reflects the satisfaction of poor agricultural workers.
