Industries in

Chile

Tourism: Tourism in Chile is one of the largest industries. Over the past 15 years, Chile has averaged about 2 million tourists each year. Tourism accounts for about $ 2.5 billion each year in Chile. The top tourist attractions in Chile are: Easter Island, Lauca National Park, Pucon, and Torres del Paine. Easter Island is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeastern most point of the Polynesian Triangle. Easter Island is famous for its 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. After the earthquake which struck central Chile in February 2010 forced many people to postpone domestic trips, leading to widespread caution about discretionary expenditure, 2011 saw a more favourable backdrop for Chile’ s travel and tourism industry.
