FOOD + NUTRITION Fresh Garden Snack Take a leap into Spring with this fresh and fun snack. Gather your veggies with a trip to your local market. Talk with your child about the different colors and textures. Teach them the names of the different vegetables and what letter they begin with. There is so much to learn. Have fun! Supplies 1 carrot, 2 cucumbers, bushel of green grapes, spinach leaves, skewers, and tooth picks. Cutting board and knife for parents. Step 1 Step 2 Wash all veggies. Step 4 Poke the grapes through the skewer until it is full. Parents help your child as the skewers are sharp. Make two. This will be the fence to your flower garden. Cut one cucumber in half. Then slice into half inch circles. Cut a triangle out of each slice to create the leaves. Cut the the remaining cucumbers into two inch chunks. This will create the base of the flowers. Step 3 Step 5 Cut the carrot in half. Cut four long triangle slits around each carrot. Chop half inch pieces to create the flowers. Put a tooth pick in each base and poke the cucumber leaf through. Top with a carrot flower. Step 6 Line the veggie flowers up and garnish with spinach leaves. Place the grape fence in front. Your lovely fresh veggie flower garden is complete. Happy Spring!
