Mental health and well being can be affected by many different factors, as a practitioner it is your responsibility to understand and recognise the issues that children can face. The mental health foundation have found that 10 percent of children have mental health problems due to their surroundings (Mental Health Foundation, 2019). Social risk factors such as poverty, stress, exposure to violence and abuse (physical or emotional), conflict situations, trauma and low social support, increase risk for poor mental health and specific disorders (WHO, 2017).
