BIBLE MEMORIZATION PROJECT
Our competition continues into its 2 nd year! Having the words of Scripture
on the tip of your tongue is a gift for all ages — an assurance of God’s love
and faithfulness in every season.
A booklet is available to help you and your family learn one Bible verse a
week — all year long! Read it together at breakfast, dinner, or bedtime; il-
lustrate the verse or set it to music; make it your own. When memorizing a
passage, talk with your kids about its meaning. Help them understand the
words and rephrase it in their own language.
When your child has memorized a verse, have him or her recite it for their
teacher. (And you can, too!) The Church School teachers will keep a record
for their class. At the end of the year, we will award the Jane Bryan Prize in
Bible Memorization to the Church School student who memorizes the most
verses over the course of the school year.
A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY
for our 3 rd Graders
Read C. S. Lewis’s classic, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, with
the Rector! The Rev. Brenda Husson will lead a series of read-a-longs in
her office (complete with cozy fireplace) with our third-graders. Join us!

NEW THIS FALL: FRIDAY FRIENDS!
6:00 - 8:00 p.m. | Oct. 27 · Nov. 17
Friday Friends is a new extension of our popular Family Fridays, designed especially for 5 th ,
6 th and 7 th graders. While the younger children meet in the Primary Classroom, the older ones
will gather in the Atrium for games and fun. Beginning in October with a casino night, future
events will feature charades, a murder mystery, karaoke, Jeopardy, and offsite GAGA and
laser tag games! In keeping with the spirit of St. James’, we will also incorporate community-
based activities as we do for Family Fridays. Host families will select and supervise activities.
