One thing many people do not understand is if spanking is considered to be child abuse or discipline. It is a hard question indeed since it can be both. Parents may use spanking as a way to discipline their child, but if done so in an abusive way then it can be considered child abuse.
We have discussed already, in preview pages, what child abuse and neglect is. We have also provided examples and sings of child abuse and neglect, one of the signs being that the child had bruises. If spanking causes bruising on the child would that be considered child abuse? I guess it all depends on how far a parent or adult goes on the spanking. It is acceptable here in the United States but one has to determine when to draw the line.
