Welcome Letter
An introduction to the 2016-17 school year
By: Ryan Isreal
Chieftain Staff
If you’re reading this, it’s too late. The
2016-17 school year is well underway and
we at the Chieftain are ready to officially
welcome you in the only way we know
how: a letter.
To the faculty, staff, and students,
we hope this school year will be a year
of learning and growth. To the Seniors,
we are almost there. It’s time to enjoy the
present and leave a positive impact on
the school.
To the Juniors, we hope you continue
to work hard throughout the most important academic year. To the Sophomores,
we trust that you learned valuable lessons
during your freshman year, and that you
will continue to learn this year.
To the Freshmen, to whom we dedicate this first issue, we welcome you to
Brother Rice and its ever-growing community. We encourage you to work hard,
play hard, and try new things. We hope
the next four years of your life will be the
best.
Every new year at Brother Rice
brings about a certain amount of change.

Last year, the introduction of the iPads
captivated the student body. This year,
Brother Rice welcomes multiple new
administrators and faculty members. The
Chieftain looks forward to bringing you
interviews and segments about the new
members of the Brother Rice community
throughout the year.
Change is also happening for the
Chieftain. The Chieftain welcomes five new
members and returns three leaders. The
Chieftain also is proud to announce our
newest feature, coming to a big screen
near you, “Chieftain Live.” As you’ve
hopefully already seen, “Chieftain Live”
will periodically provide interesting and
informative video content to the Brother
Rice student body.
The Chieftain once again will be
distributed to your iPads through the
Chieftain app. You also can interact with
the Chieftain on a daily basis through our
Twitter account @BRChieftain. We will be
tweeting polls, stories, and videos on the
account.
And, yes, we still follow back.
Good luck to everyone and, as always: Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever.
