And the Beat Goes On Staff picks for the Summer’ s best concerts
Eddie Money
May 26 at the DTE Energy Music Theatre( Clarkston)
I can’ t think of many things that top DTE. Every year, Michigan native Eddie Mahoney, better known as Eddie Money, kicks off the summer at DTE. It is quite a popular occasion around the Brother Rice community. Is it the tickets on the lawn that go for only $ 6? Or is it the great songs like“ Take Me Home Tonight” and“ Two Tickets to Paradise”? One may never know. One thing we do know is that the 68-year-old singer-songwriter brings the house down every year at DTE and is a great tradition to start summer.

J. Cole
July 23 at The Palace( Auburn Hills)
Although J. Cole’ s album,“ 4 Your Eyez Only,” didn’ t necessarily live up to all the hype it was receiving prior to its release, it still has a few great songs that he will most likely perform incredibly while on stage. J. Cole’ s concerts are notoriously wild, especially when he performs the

should look forward to a good 2017-18 school year with these three guys running the show.
Now, to get into their personalities a little bit.
After giving an attention-grabbing speech through his excitement and positivity, Marsh was elected by his fellow students as the President. Marsh is one of the nicest guys at Rice. He mentioned in his speech that he was inspired by 2015-16 President Neal McCaffrey. Students and staff at Brother Rice who got to experience McCaffrey’ s positivity and kindness would say that Marsh strongly resembles what his predecessor stood for.
Marsh mentioned many ideas in his speech, which brought about much

song,“ A Tale of 2 Citiez,” from his previous album,“ 2014 Forest Hills Drive,” which was incredible. Cole’ s concert this summer should be one to remember.

excitement. His Presidency should be one to remember.
The two Vice Presidents also strongly resemble what Brother Rice is about through the examples they set every day. Denha is someone whom underclassmen can come to if they need any help or if they just need someone to talk to. He has an amazing personality, and the newly earned role is sure to fit him very well.
One word to describe Laurencelle is leader. He has shown his talent on the athletic fields and has set a great example
Cole Swindell, Dan Shay, Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert. The festival will also feature some oldschool country bands, such as The Charlie Daniels Band and Randy Rogers Band.

Big Sean
Aug. 6 at Lollapalooza( Chicago)
Lollapalooza is one of the most anticipated festivals of the year. In addition to big-name artists such as Chance the Rapper and Russ, Big Sean is one of the most talked-about names in the music industry today and will certainly put on a great show for his fans. The Detroit native started his career in 2007, when Kanye West signed him to his record company, GOOD Music. Since then, it has been nothing but success for the 29-year-old. His album“ I Decided,” released in February, has been a big success, and songs like“ Bounce Back” and“ Moves” are two of the top songs of the year. Big Sean will perform in front of one of the largest crowds at the festival, and he will certainly give the fans what they paid for.-Sante Dybowski

for both his teammates and his classmates. Laurencelle is someone whom many underclassmen look up to in terms of academics and athletics.
These three guys should make a great impact on the school during their Senior years.
