A Very Different Field Day
Still a success , even with a smaller turnout

This year ’ s Field Day was different in many ways , from the addition of many new events to the shortened schedule . But was Field Day still successful ?
For the first time ever , students were allowed to opt out of Field Day due the COVID-related restrictions . About 60 percent of the students chose to attend on Oct . 2 , compared to an average of about 85 percent in prior years .
Like many of the students who opted out , Michael New , a Junior , said his reason for staying home was because of the shortened schedule . The event began at 8 a . m . and ended at 10:30 .
Others chose to attend , such as Junior Drew Karcher , who said he came because he respects the tradition . But he did feel that the lack of people
affected the competitive vibe of Field Day .
As for the competition , St . Brendan continued its climb up the ranks into a competitive band , and it truly showed this year . Brendan achieved big wins in dodgeball and handball , as well as disc golf , on the way to a 6-point win over St . Max Kolbe , who finished second .
St . Brendan did not have the most wins , but they were very consistent in the events . This may set the pace for the rest of Brendan ’ s season , as they have taken the first step towards the Band Championship .
Here are some other highlights from Field Day .
Freshmen / Sophomore Football Freshman / Sophomore football was an interesting and action-packed event .
