Reel Christmas Classics
A few of the Chieftain’s favorite holiday movies

It’s that time of the year again. Free-
form starts their “25 Days of Christmas”
movie marathon and I make the pop-
corn by the roasting fire while the tree
is looking me right back in the eyes.
Christmas movies are a staple of the
season.
So let’s highlight the most known
movies of the cheery season.
First off, we’ve got the one and only
“Elf.” I don’t know one person who has
never seen this movie.
Ever since 2003, when this movie
dropped, it’s quickly become the most
iconic Christmas movie. This movie is
so good that you could watch it in the
middle of summer and still laugh. My
family constantly quotes the film; it’s
just a classic.
Will Ferrell (Buddy the Elf) is on top
of his game this movie. Heck, the per-
formances of all the cast are what really
make the movie. If you haven’t seen
“Elf,” I never want to meet you.
Next up is “National Lampoon’s
Christmas Vacation.” Cousin Eddie
would be proud of this selection. Chevy
Chase, back in the good old days, was
golden.
Another Christmas classic here, with
laughs every time you watch it. Just
remember, if you’re ever an employer,
give out a Christmas bonus. Maybe you
won’t end up kidnapped by Cousin
Eddie.
This one goes without saying: “Home
Alone.” Tell me you have never wanted
to make a set up like Kevin. Macaulay
Culkin, where did you go, man? What
happened?
If you don’t want to catch “Home
Alone” this season, don’t worry. There
are four more -- maybe you can see one
of them.
Best of the Rest
OK, going to hit a speed round here:
“Jingle All the Way”: Who can
forget Arnold Schwarzenegger in a
Christmas movie?
“The Santa Clause”: Tim Allen
becomes Santa. All my dreams come
true.
“It’s A Wonderful Life”: This
movie invented originality. Yeah. It’s
good.
“The Polar Express”: Pretty sure
everyone saw this on the last day
before Christmas Break in grammar
school.
