Christmas Movie Reviews ‘Krampus’ a Holiday Dud ‘Night Before’ Is a Decent Buddy Movie When Ethan Miller (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) loses his parents in a car accident, his friends Isaac (Seth Rogen) and Chris (Anthony Mackie) vow to spend every Christmas with him. Seth Rogan, back for more laughs Jump ahead 15 years, Chris is an NFL star and Isaac is having a baby, so they have to break the news to Ethan that they can’t spend this Christmas with him. Everything changes when Ethan gets tickets to the Nutcracker Ball, a crazy Christmas party they have been trying to attend for years. With guest appearances from Miley Cyrus and James Franco and a surprising fantasy twist at the end, this movie is worth seeing for a good mix of laughing and Christmas feelings. Just don’t take your mom, or your girlfrien d, or your younger brother, or basically anyone except your buddies. -Evan Oesterle It’s the holiday season, which means warm fires and family bonding. As you and your family bond, you will probably watch a movie. A possible fit could be Krampus. A member of the Chieftain recently went to see if it was good for the Christmas Season. It was not. Krampus is based on an age-old German tradition where families that do not have Christmas spirit, or are being bad for Christmas, do not get gifts. Instead of Santa coming down the chimney for milk and cookies, a goat/Bigfoot-type monster with a distorted St. Nick face pops in. This monster is the legend called Krampus and, instead of eating the milk and cookies, it wants to eat your whole family. The movie had a lot of German in it so, if you want to see it, make sure you bring a translator. It also had guns and toys that have the power to kill. And, yes, the toys were more powerful than the guns. Krampus had some funny moments and some sad moments. Also, there were some jumpscares. This movie also included David Koechner (you may remember him as Champ Kind from Anchorman) playing a crazed hunter. But, overall, the movie was terrible. If you are looking for scary, you are looking at the wrong movie. -Jacob Oxyer 2015 NBA Christmas Uniforms Thunder: Sure didn’t rumble OKC with these uniforms Heat: Much lower in temperature than Miami’s average Rockets: Uniform is better than their underperforming team Bulls: May live past the Holidays, unlike Derrick Rose’s ACL Clippers: Worse than DeAndre Jordan’s free-throw shooting Lakers: Finally, something Laker’s fans can appreciate Pelicans: A mediocre uniform for a mediocre team Cavs: Worse than the their NBA Finals finish last year Warriors: Uniforms are on top, just like the team usually is Spurs: A classic uniform is very fitting for this classic team - Jacob Oxyer B ROTHE R R I C E H I G H S C HO O L C H I E F TA I N PAGE 6 D E C E M B E R 2015
