Summary from the General Committee, August 2017 – by David Pearce, Hon. Secretary The General Committee, chaired by Commodore Robin Hamilton, dealt with the following business: ► ► ► ► The Commodore reported that Club operations management is a bit stretched at this time of year but should be back to normal in September. Maddie’s imminent departure has led the Board Sub Committee (BSC) to look at operational management in the future and BSC will be making recommendations to the General Committee (GC) in due course. Agreed to put a special resolution to the AGM abolishing the post of Vice Commodore, thereby opening up the route of succession to Commodore to a wider group. Agreed to maintain summer hours in the Bar and Restaurant until the last weekend of October, to coincide with the BST / GMT clocks change. It also agreed to open on Mondays and Tuesdays during the winter but operate earlier closing times. Noted that proposals for replacement of the bridgeheads were still awaited and asked for an urgent update from the team looking at this. It had been hoped to complete the work this winter but the allocated money will be spent We hope you will be able to join us at the Club AGM on October 29th at 15:00, and look forward to seeing you there. 4 elsewhere if not yet required for this project. ► ► ► ► It was noted that membership continues to grow well and it is hoped to examine the demographics of this. There has been a noticeable rise in applicants for Under 40s Family membership which is good news for the future of the Club. It was reported that the Club has now been granted a Ceremonial License for weddings which opens up a new revenue stream for the future. Asked that bandwidth for broadband in the Club be investigated as this seemed to be having an effect on systems. Agreed that the forthcoming AGM would be followed by a review of 2017 so far and a look forward to 2018. The next General Committee meeting is on 30 September 2017 at 10:00.
