By Manu Jenkin Robin, our Commodore, has been away in south-west France, enjoying a well- earned break but with poor internet connectivity. Therefore, this month, news is coming from the “Crow’s Nest” instead. After a full-on August, September has been another busy month with lots happening on and off the water. There have been several RYA Dinghy and Power Boat training courses, youth and adult Club coaching, Dinghy and Yacht racing as well as several Motor and Yacht cruises, when the weather permitted. On land, we have had a very successful South American Club Social with Latin dancing tuition which proved very popular and Andy and his team put together a Mexican menu including nachos, burritos and chilli and lime chicken. I dusted the cobwebs off my clubs and joined members, ex-members and staff on the beautifully manicured Hill Barn Golf course for CYC’s Annual Golf tournament. In spite of a mixed game, it was a really enjoyable day and it would be great to have more ladies joining us next year. Our Macmillan coffee morning is being organised, as I write, by a super team of ladies from the Yacht Section. It is sure to be another great success this year and our thanks must go to all the organisers, volunteers, bakers and visitors for their support. Next month we can look forward amongst other events to CYC Ramblers, the first of our Winter Lecture and Mini-Lecture series, our New Members’ Reception on 20th October and the Laying Up Supper. 2
