Commodore Tony Mobbs Firstly, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our members who have joined us from the beginning of the year. We held our first New Members’ Evening at the Club on 20th April. It was a rare warm spring evening so we had the reception outside. I really enjoy talking to new members who remind me what a unique and fascinating Club we have. Chichester Canoe Club We have had a partnering relationship with the Chichester Canoe Club for a number of years. They use our launching facilities on Friday evenings throughout the summer months. I had a meeting with their club secretary to discuss the future relationship. He reminded me that the Canoe Club offers free coaching and tuition to Club members so if you own a canoe or kayak then please do join the Canoe club on Friday evenings from 17:00. 2 New data protection regulations You will all have heard or seen various references to the new data protection regulations which will come into force on 25th May. The new legislation covers digital, as well as paper, information. I am pleased to tell you that the Club is fully compliant with the new law and the General Committee approved the new Club Data Protection Policy at our last meeting in April. I would like to thank GC member Philip Brown who led the work for us, ably supported by Kate Williamson who provided pragmatic legal guidance.
