Offsets
Many benches will have a slant or have an offset. To calculate
the offset, place a set square against the back of the seat.
Measure up by the depth of the foam and measure the differ-
ence between the back of the seat and the edge of the set
square. In this case, with 4” foam, the offset is 5cm.

Back at home, the information on your template needs to be translated onto a final template so that you have a
useable template to work from. At the same time, mark the direction of the nap.
When all is marked up, you are ready to cut out your material and start sewing.
