The Committee voiced concern about the
apparent lack of progress on the
replacement bridgeheads proposal. A
fully costed and scheduled proposal is
required for approval before the work can
go ahead.
Noted the publication of the 2018 Club
Programme which had been fully funded
by advertising revenue. With the balance
of this revenue it was agreed to publish a
Club Handbook including all the Club and
Members’ Rules and other information
such as how to use the website.
Agreed to add pontoon safety and cyber
security to the Business Risk Register.
Agreed to appoint Lewis Brownlee as our
new auditors on a full service basis.
Noted an RYA report which detailed
measures of success for clubs,
highlighting the importance of getting new
members involved in events both on and
off the water. It was agreed that we
should continue to provide a
strong social programme,
especially over the winter,
involving new members as
much as possible and to
provide value for those senior
members who no longer own a
boat; the Membership
Committee will consider the
report in greater depth.
Agreed a new process by
which members’ views on
house matters can be
communicated and overseen
in lieu of a House Committee;
Section representatives will be
involved.

Agreed to pursue informal training
opportunities for Motors and Yachts,
possibly linked in with cruises.
Noted that we have our first four wedding
ceremonies booked for 2018.
Agreed a proposal to close the clubhouse
for a period during the kitchen
refurbishment works in January and for
reduced service until completed. Further
agreed the hire of a “field kitchen” to
achieve this. Full details to be widely
published to members.
Called for a “wish list” of expenditure
items for future consideration.
The next General Committee meeting is on
20 January 2018 at 10:00.
