Commodore Tony Mobbs Well what a start to the New Year. The Club was beaten by storms Dylan and Eleanor, the latter combined with an abnormally high tide and low pressure caused considerable damage to the Dinghy Park and the Eastern Pontoon. But thanks to a rallying call from the Saga Louts and brilliant cross- sectional support (plus a little help from a mechanical digger), the Dinghy Park and the pontoon are now back to their normal state. A big thank you to all of you who gave up your time to help. Kitchen Refurbishment The Kitchen is now back to being fully operational after its refurbishment. The issue was the main extractor unit above the cookers. It was nearly 30 years old, well over its normal operation life. New Club Café This month we are opening our new CYC Café. We will be open from 10am for coffee and now cakes, thanks to our wonderful cake chef Keith. So come along and experience our extensive selections of coffees and relax and read the newspapers. CYC Ramblers Some of the many winter activities we have lined up for you are the CYC Rambles. I Last time it was maintained we were warned joined in the recent walk from Fishbourne to that it could not be maintained further and it Bosham. I was surprised to see over 50 could fail at any time and would have to be members who had turned out. Alison and I totally replaced. We could not afford this to had a wonderful time catching up with some happen at the height of our summer season so the General Committee made the decision members we had not seen for a while and to replace early in the year when the Club was also making new acquaintances. I would highly recommend signing up for future walks not so busy. Whilst the extractor was being and it helps to lose those extra pounds we are replaced, we also took the opportunity to all trying to get rid of. Well done to the replace the kitchen flooring and paint the kitchen throughout. We also have some new organisers. fire detectors. Loyalty Scheme A big thank you to Andy and his team for maintaining a reduced service to members throughout the refurbishment, working from a temporary “field kitchen” in the Sloop. Building on his skills developed back in his old army days. I would just like to remind everyone about the Club’s Loyalty Scheme. If you are over 70 years of age and been with the Club for 20 years or more, then you are entitled to join the Club’s Loyalty Scheme, which will entitle you to £50 to spend in the Bar and Restaurant. If you are a Family Member and your partner Thank you also to Emily and her bar staff who satisfies the same conditions, then that would took the opportunity to conduct a deep clean mean £100 saving on your annual Club and reorganisation of the Bar area.
