Burns Night
A big thank you to all those who turned up for our Burns Night social . It was good to see the Club ’ s rooms full of people enjoying themselves .
Thanks to Maddie and her team for making the whole evening go with a swing , or is that a caber toss , and next year I may arrive in time for some haggis .
Our thanks also go to Premier Marina who provided us with some sponsorship for the evening .
Having spoken with several members during the evening we all agreed that there was a “ good vibe ” around the Club at present .
Bar and Restaurant Refurbishment
As I mentioned last month we have started a refurbishment programme in the bar and restaurant areas .
Much of this work is being funded from the profit from our external events business , which performed well last year .
We have almost finished the bar area with its new soft lighting which I think now provides a
The refurbishment is mainly taking place during Mondays and Tuesdays so disruption to members will be minimal .
CYC ’ s Jubilee Weekend
As you will know by now we are celebrating the Club ’ s Golden Jubilee this year .
The main weekend of celebrations will be 28th April to 1st May , so get it in your diaries now . Planning for the weekend is now well under way and I will share with you soon more details of what we have planned .
One thing we are planning to achieve is a timeline of key events throughout the last 50 years so if you any pictures or memorabilia please contact the Office .
Socials Coming Up
We have an active social programme planned for February with monthly section socials and Winter Lectures , but this year we also have a mini-lecture series for some Friday evenings .

Our new Winter Quiz series continues where answering questions correctly gives you points and we all know what points mean ….
