Chapter One
Once upon a time, there was a Bighorn Sheep named Chewy who lived with
his family in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming way up in the air. My parents told
me about the environment that we live in said Chewy. My world is a beautiful
place; there are tons of mountains to climb and views to see. My world is full of
rugged, treacherous terrain and beautiful flowers. Some environmental challenges
that we have as a species in Wyoming is that there has been a breakout of
pneumonia in Bighorn Sheep population in the western states. My rugged world is
full of dangers lurking around every mountain peak. I love living in the western
mountainous region of Wyoming and I couldn’t be any happier, I hope we stay
well.
Chapter Two
Life in the Rocky Mountains isn’t always a good thing, because I have to be
aware of predators lurking near my home.
I was told when I was younger that
the average lifespan of Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) is 6 to 15 years and I am
only a year old. There are many things in my environment that could harm me;
such as the new breakout of pneumonia that killed off a lot of my Bighorn Sheep
relatives within my community. The size of my Bighorn sheep relatives could be 5
to 6 feet tall, and we can weigh anywhere from 117 to 280 pounds like my big
brother. My horns weigh can weigh up to 30 pounds of my body weight, which is
