July 4th, the Italian Senate voted and transposed the European Directive on vivisection 201 0 63. A milestone was reached and resulted in the closure of Green Hill and the prohibition of certain tests on animals. Each year 900,000 animals are killed in Italian Labs, now the use of alternative research methods is encouraged. Among the most important objectives approved (see Article 1 4 of the Community Bill 201 1 ): - Prohibition of breeding farms of cats, primates and laboratory dogs, which leds to the closure of Green Hill. This is the fulfilment of a long battle waged by activists and animal welfare associations animal that has been going on for years. - Prohibition of the most painful trials (without anesthesia), xenotransplantation experiments. tests on substances of abuse (alcohol, tobacco, drugs), and a large part of teaching vivisection. - Support the development of alternative methods and the application of Title IX bis of the Penal Code for those who violate the new regulations.
