Hello Gareth and thanks for this interview. What are your plans for Farplace in th
By moving to the middle of the countryside and being asked to take in animals - we had room so we started to take animals in that needed us.
Tell us more about your rescue organisation: What is a usual day here in Farplace? Do you have volunteers? Do you have foster families? How do the adoptions take place? How do you do when you are already full and hear about an animal in need?
Short-term : more staff, more ba can say yes to.
Long-term : the largest charity in multiple bases across hundreds
Because we are remote, we do not have many volunteers. A day consists of cleaning out, feeding and walking 300 plus animals along with dealing with and prioritising which animals we can take in when asked. We also try to rehome whenever we can and have vet trips to do. We turn away more than 1 0 times what we can take in, so we want to expand. but we simply have to prioritise and focus on the cases where we think the animal is in immediate risk of being put down. We know we cannot help all of them yet. but have to focus on who we can help. Adoptions we either get to know over a period of time to be sure of a good home or take a qualified vet reference guaranteeing the same.
