live on free-range/freedom/organic/cagefree/antibiotic-free/hormone-free/grassfed/local farms, or are murdered with a 'knife and a prayer' in accordance with ancient religious blood-draining customs. If animals go into slaughterhouses alive and come out chopped up into hundreds of pieces, how could anyone claim that they aren't being mistreated, abused, tortured and terrorized? How in the world could SLAUGHTERING BILLIONS of INNOCENT beings be done with love, humanity and concern? Kosher and halal-style killings, and the freerange/freedom/organic/cage-free/antibioticfree/hormone-free/grass-fed/buying local terms are used to manipulate people into thinking that meat, dairy and egg production can be done happily and humanely. But there is no such thing as happy and humane slaughter just as there is no such thing as happy and human rape, happy and humane slavery, or happy and humane child molestation. From the animals' point of view, anyone who commodifies their bodies is equally vicious. And if for some reason my aforesaid words aren't proof enough of the terrorism claims I'm lodging against the meat, dairy and egg establishments—and the people who consume these products—maybe the billions of dead, dismembered animal bodies consumed annually could count as proof.
Describe a day, in a near future, where (non human) animal rights are recognized:
If people from all nationalities, races, religions, and creeds ever got together for a meal, only veganism could yield a meal that wouldn't offend. At this table of peace, Americans would say, "We're not eating dogs, cats and horses!" Muslims and Orthodox Jews would say, "You're not feeding us pigs!" Indians would say, "We're not eating cows!" Seventh Day Adventists, Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, and Rastafarians would rule out all the other animals and animal products because they're all vegetarians or vegans. The only things left to eat that everybody could agree upon would be fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains and legumes. Veganism can resurrect Eden and create heaven on Earth. We can have a place where humans view animals in awe, and animals
view humans with a curious aloofness. It's time to reconnect to the natural world for the sake of the animals, the environment and humanity. Protecting the weak is the first step to enlightenment and being truly civilized. Without animal liberation, as author Milan Kundera explains, there can be no peace on Earth: "Mankind's true moral test, its fundamental test which lies deeply buried from view, consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it."
Thanks Gary for giving your precious time, have all my respect for what you are and what you do. Go Vegan :-)
