TOURS

Drop-in tours start from the Mead Witter lobby Thursdays at 12:30 p. m. and Sundays at 2 p. m. On Thursdays and Fridays, 12 – 2 p. m., Ask-Me docents are stationed throughout the galleries to answer questions about the permanent collection or temporary exhibits. For group tours by schools and organizations at other times, please call for an appointment at least four weeks in advance of the desired date, 608-263-4421.

PARKING

General public parking is available in the city’ s State Street Campus Ramp, under University Square, and in the UW lot 46 lower level. Evening and weekend parking is also available in UW lot 83 under Fluno Center and in

FOR VISITORS WITH DISABILITIES

The museum is accessible by wheelchair at the main entrance, 750 University Avenue. There is a pull-in drive in front of the museum to drop off vistors. The passenger elevator is next to the museum shop. There is another elevator in the Elvehjem Building, with wheelchair accessibility at the north entrance of that building. Two wheelchairs are available at the museum and can be reserved in advance.

The museum will provide sign language interpreters for programs by advance request. Call the curator of education, weekdays at 608-263-4421 to request an interpreter.

MUSEUM ETIQUETTE

Museum rules promote the safety of art works and pleasant viewing conditions for visitors. Food and drink are not permitted in the building. Smoking is prohibited. Animals, except service animals, are not allowed.

Packages, purses, and other objects larger than 11 x 14 inches, as well as backpacks, umbrellas, selfie sticks, and rigid baby carriers, are not permitted in the galleries. Lockers and a coat room are available near the information desk in the lobby. They require a 25-cent deposit, which will be returned after use. Umbrellas and oversized items can be checked in the coat room. The museum is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Running, pushing, shoving, and other physical acts that may endanger art works are prohibited.

Touching art works, pedestals, frames, and cases is prohibited.

Photographs of the permanent collection may be taken with a hand-held camera without a flash. Written permission must be obtained from the registrar for any other photography.
