Strong demand and a shortage of properties for sale have been the driving force behind a continued rise in prices of flats, cottages and family houses in popular town locations. Many of these homes attract a choice of buyers and exceed of their asking prices. However, the rise in stamp duty charges has impacted on the appeal of higher value properties, particularly those out of town, which still need to be competitively priced to achieve a sale. Good village and town houses, particularly up to £500,000 are particularly sought after and in short supply. As price ranges increase above this, demand becomes slower and prices seem to have levelled. With the “flood gates” seemingly having been opened for new developments featuring large 4 & 5 bedroomed houses one does have to wonder whether this will dilute the market later next year. New properties coming to the market are still massively outweighed by high demand. Property stocks are at an all-time low, which continues to put pressure on values. Graham Douglas Wantage - 01235 766222 The market has been strong right across our Midlands region with sales up year-on-year, achieved prices creeping upwards as demand continues to outstrip supply. Our network of offices continues to expand, North into Ashby-de-la-Zouch - South into Towcester, as demand for Howkins & Harrison’s brand and values forever strengthens.
