Achievement
Ensure that NCEA results exceed those of decile ( or similar equity index rating ) 8 – 10 schools through processes of advice , guidance and ongoing monitoring by subjects and form teachers . Link to Strategic Plan Goals : Goal 1 : People . Goal 2 : Learning . Goal 4 : School Culture .
Historical Position The school continues to deliver good NCEA results to our community . Over recent years , a number of strategies have been employed to support learners and while in the main this has again proven successful in 2022 , there are still students who underperform for a variety of reasons and this needs to be addressed where possible .
Review the achievement of students across all levels .
2023 Goal Learning remains our fundamental reason for being , and as such , we need to continue to focus and enhance those strategies to maintain and advance achievement . Our NCEA results for 2022 were very good at all levels . National statistics show a general decrease in pass rates at each year level when compared to 2021 results . HNHS results are consistent in this regard and while all pass rates are better than other decile 8 – 10 schools and national averages , there is a general decline from 2021 to 2022 . In 2023 , we will work to establish the statistical validity of the decline to determine whether this represents a need for intervention . We will also work to develop a better understand the concerning level of University Entrance amongst 2022 male year 13 students to ensure this is not repeated in 2023 .
