Unlike Mini, and Neighborhood Parks, Community Parks are considered drive-to recreation destinations so service areas are not limited to the boundary of the planning area in which they are located. These drive-to destinations cover multiple planning areas and are community destinations for City residents. Overall, very few residents are served by a Community Park. Due to their function in the community, there are few other public open spaces that could meet a Community Park need. The two high schools and the middle school, located in Areas 3, 4, and 6 offer the appropriate amenities to serve a Community Park need when they are not in use by the schools.
