A few stakeholders commented on the ongoing
improvements at the Deerpath Golf Course. Some
think very highly of the improvements, while
others questioned the overall community benefit
compared to cost.
Biking and trail use was a topic of conversation for
several stakeholders. Safety was the chief concern
with stakeholders commenting that they support
separating bicycle and vehicle traffic through
the addition of bike lanes or designated paths,
particularly in areas with a large number of children.
Some stakeholders also suggested constructing a
bike/skate park in addition to trails.
Beach and Sailing
The majority of stakeholders and staff highly value
the beach, and amenities and programs located
there. The need for indoor teaching and storage
space was cited by multiple stakeholders and staff.
Stakeholders also requested that the equipment
and boats be replaced on a regular schedule to
improve safety. Staff suggested introducing an
automatic gate system to control beach access.
Safety was also mentioned in relation to
beach activities by stakeholders and staff. Staff
emphasized the general importance of safe and
proper amenities when adding to the site while
stakeholders specifically had concerns about the
new alcohol service policy.
