A few other comments were received, relating to outdoor amenities. 1 respondent recommended repairs to the basketball courts and 6 comments requested tennis court repairs, specifically with the quality of the paving. 9 comments requested adding new or expanded restrooms for park visitors. 6 comments about the golf course ranged from improving the holes and paths to offering better equipment. Respondents also requested an outdoor pool (3 comments), more shelters (2 comments), refrigerated outdoor ice (2 comments), a sled hill (1 comment), expanding the marina (1 comment), and improving entry signage (1 comment). Respondents were conflicted about dog use of parks. Most of the comments referred to dogs at Forest Park Beach with 7 comments requesting dogs be banned from the park and 5 suggesting a dog park be established, potentially at the beach. Respondents also shared a number of general comments about park conditions. 12 suggested that better upkeep and cleanliness are needed. 5 specifically mentioned needed better maintenance of ornamental and native plantings with 2 comments suggesting a naturalist position be added to the Department staff. Pest control was also mentioned, 3 comments requested additional mosquito control and 2 had concerns about the number of coyotes and raccoons in the parks. Respondents also questioned the value of undeveloped land ownership. 2 comments each requested the development of Buena Park and Meadowood Park and 4 expressed interest in the future of McCormick Nature Preserve. A number of comments about access were also received. About 10 respondents identified parking challenges at the neighborhood parks and most frequently at Forest Park and Forest Park Beach. The beach was the subject of several other comments including 3 requesting ADA accessible amenities and pedestrian paths, and 4 requesting repairs to the road. Residents also expressed interest in expanding trail systems within the parks and improving trail quality by paving stone paths, adding seating, adding bike racks and proving drinking fountains. The final set of comment referenced outdated buildings. 5 comments called for improvements to the Fitness Center including the locker rooms as well as new indoor space such as turf, an indoor pool, more gymnasiums, and indoor ice (1 comment each).
