Five easy tips for improving your credit Monitoring your credit report and credit rating is important, especially if you’re considering purchasing a home. Here are five tips for improving your credit. It’s not about quick fixes, but responsible financial activity over time. 1) Get a credit card: Ok. This may seem counterintuitive, but when used correctly, a credit card can be an effective tool for building credit. 2) Keep your balance low: This is the other side of the coin with credit cards. Try to only charge for items you could pay for out of pocket, and try to stick to a balance only 10 percent of your credit limit. 3) Fix credit errors: You’re entitled to free credit reports each year, so take advantage and review your port for any possible errors, such as incorrect limits or closed accounts. 4) Leave paid debts on your report: Paid off debts like car loans show that you have a history of paying your debt on time. 5) Ask: If you’re looking to pay off a debt quickly, it can’t hurt to ask the lender to lower your interest rate. You can’t get what your don’t ask for. Valentine’s Day Meal Recipe… Soy Glazed Salmon Ingredients: 2 salmon fillets 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup water Directions: 1. Put all the ingredients minus the fish in a frying pan on low heat. 2. Stir it until the sugar dissolves and it looks like a sauce. 3. Put the salmon and the sauce in a sealable plastic bag. 4. Place the bag in the fridge and let it marinate for 2 hours. 5. Take the fish and sauce out of the bag and wrap it in tin foil. 6. Pre-heat the oven to broil. Put the salmon in the oven to broil for about 8 minutes or until the fish no longer looks raw in the middle and flakes easily. Check the color by using a fork to separate the flakes. Serve with: seasoned steamed broccoli, rice and a chardonnay. Presentation: Lean the salmon on a serving spoon sized pile of rice. Place the broccoli in a half circle around the rice.
