As part of its commitment to continuous improvement and self-reflection, Charlotte Jewish Day School( CJDS) conducts a parent survey each spring. This year, Prizmah, the organization that supports Jewish day schools across North America, introduced a benchmarked assessment to help inform school leadership. CJDS chose to participate. The survey enabled CJDS to benchmark parents’ experiences against both its own historical results and a diverse group of peer schools.

The benchmark included 28 Jewish Day schools ranging in size from 75 to more than 1,000 students, representing Reform, Solomon Schechter, Orthodox and community day schools in cities across the United States, including New York, Atlanta, Seattle and Los Angeles. Among them, CJDS was the only school to outperform the benchmark in every measured category.

Based on a robust number of parent responses, CJDS earned a Net Promoter Score of 62, a measure of how likely parents are to recommend the school to other families, compared with the network average of 38.

Respondents reflected the full

spectrum of Jewish identity, including Conservative, Reform, Cultural, Orthodox, Secular, unaffiliated and other families. That diversity suggests the results reflect the school’ s value across the broader Jewish community rather than any single affiliation.

Among the survey’ s highest ratings, 98 % of parents said teachers and staff genuinely care about their children, 97 % were satisfied with the overall academic experience, 95 % said CJDS cultivates a love of Jewish learning and 90 % said school leadership is responsive to their feedback, 16 percentage points above the network benchmark. In every core academic subject, CJDS also scored at least 10 points above the network average for instructional quality.

Across every grade level and affiliation, parents consistently highlighted the same strengths: caring teachers, a rigorous academic curriculum, strong Jewish identity, individualized attention, small class sizes and a community where children feel known and loved.

For current and prospective families, the survey offers more than a collection of statistics. It paints the portrait of a school deeply committed to academic excellence, Jewish identity and a community where every child is known, valued and supported

. Just as importantly, it reflects a culture that views listening, learning and continuous improvement as essential to its mission.
