An update on issues that affect Charbonneau SWITZER
As of this writing , the Oregon Aviation Board is yet to decide what action to take on the appeals court decision
regarding Land Use Board
of Appeals and the Aurora Airport . Nor have they decided on whether to include Charbonneau on the Public Advisory Committee in the next master

planning process .
I want to thank everyone for their positive comments on last month ’ s article and look forward to providing future updates . However , we are following other issues that affect us here in Charbonneau .
Crosswalks
Several board members met with the city on Wednesday , Aug . 11 , to discuss the needed restriping and signage for our crosswalks throughout our community . The city is aware of the need but it has been a matter of time , personnel and funding . We will keep everyone posted on the progress .
Fire station
You probably have seen the construction of the vehicle shelter at the office complex on Miley Road . As you may recall , Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is placing a paramedic unit at the building . The construction issues that

delayed the station have been resolved and we expect the opening of the station very soon . |
Redistricting
Of significance this month will be the redistricting of the state House and Senate seats based on data from the 2020 census . The reapportionment process is almost complete and the results will be presented to the Legislature in the coming weeks . Currently , we are in House District 39 . There is speculation that we will move to District 26 , which currently includes all of Wilsonville except Charbonneau .
The impact of this will not affect Charbonneau as a community . We are currently represented by Republican Christine Drazen and the rest of the city is represented by Democrat Courtney Neron . We have established a good working relationship with both representatives on the issues that affect us . If we do change districts , the state Senate seat will also change .

Club members meet the fi rst Thursday every month Earlier this summer , 38 members of the Wilsonville Garden Club toured Oregon Flowers Inc ., in Aurora — a state-of-the-art family run operation that produces cut flowers that are shipped bloomready , year round , throughout America and Canada .
For the love of gardening and the beauty of flowers , Wilsonville Garden Club members meet on the first Thursday of the month to enjoy guest speakers , tour local gardens , garden nurseries , growers and learn from
each other how best to care for the “ land and its minerals , its forests , water and wildlife .”
Organized as a community service organization , Garden Club members annually make and sell beautiful December Holiday live foliage door swags to raise funds for community college student scholarships .
