Hello Charbonneau residents !
Many of you will remember me , but there are also lots of newcomers who have moved to Charbonneau in the past few years . I was the Executive Director of the Charbonneau Country Club homeowners association from 1992 to 2018 . I also served on the Wilsonville City Council from 2013 to 2019 .
Though I live on the north side of the river , Charbonneau is a place near and dear to my heart . Working at CCC for over 25 years , I grew to care deeply about the people who live there . It is for this reason that
I strongly urge everyone in Charbonneau to vote for three local candidates who also care about the

Charbonneau community .
Julie Fitzgerald is running for mayor . I was on the City Council with Julie from 2013 through 2016 and I can say with total confidence that her leadership skills are exemplary . She is a candidate with integrity and commitment . Wilsonville will be in excellent hands with Julie at the helm .
I am also supporting Council President Kristin Akervall and Charbonneau resident Joann Linville for City Council . Both are currently on the Council and they , like Julie , are dedicated public servants who understand the issues facing the Charbonneau community as well as greater Wilsonville .
Please join me in voting for the three best candidates to lead Wilsonville into the future . Elect Julie Fitzgerald for Mayor ! Elect Joann Linville and Kristin Akervall for City Council !
My best regards to you all , Susie Stevens

Refl ecting on time as chair

A couple things . I would personally like to thank our CCC Board and our volunteers for their support over the last year for our Civic Affairs
RICHARDS efforts . After thousands of pages of research , meetings and correspondence in what I have considered a most honorable and challenging effort to protect our communities health safety and quality of life and property values , my last day as chair will be our September Civic Affairs meeting . We will have had Sheriff Brandenburg and Delora Kerber ( Wilsonville ’ s Public Works Director ) as special guests Friday , Sept . 25 , at 4 p . m .
All elections are special and important but this one is for the heart and soul of Wilsonville . As a member of the Charbonneau community I don ’ t need to tell you why your vote is so important . You have almost always voted in in the 90 % range of registered voters while the rest of state averages around 40 %. Impressive participation in one of our most sacred

NWREC Harvest Dinner rescheduled with new look

The North Willamette Research and Extension Center ( NWREC ) has been closed to the public for the past six months during the COVID-19 shutdown .
rights and not surprising to me .
I will be very much involved in other capacities . Charbonneau is what I was dreaming about when I retired and I ’ ve wanted to make sure that it stays one of the premier communities in all of Oregon . There is nothing like it . Let ’ s keep it that way .
One brief comment about the Aurora State Airport . Nobody thinks the airport is a bad thing . It ’ s an economic engine , provides jobs , is home to Life Flight , is a value in emergencies and fire suppression and is a source of valuable flight training . Sure , they need to do better with noise abatement . The objections about expansion are simply twofold . If you want to make Aurora State Airport bigger make sure affected communities are included in the plans ( called an IGA ), and follow Oregon State Land Use Rules . That is why we ’ re holding the accountable . As an affected community the rules ( around since 1973 and require for every development ) clearly say that the Airport address increased traffic on already dangerous and crowded surface streets , pollution ( air and noise ), use of Exclusive Farm Use land , municipal oversight , waste disposal etc .
Finally , were having a Candidate Forum on Oct . 12 at 6:30 p . m . as a CCC Board Webinar . Here each of our candidates speak for five minutes . They will answer pre-submitted questions drawn at random from a pool of questions . This event will be hosted by Marge Easley from the League of Women Voters . Please check your CCC event calendars for the URL and for more information .
Thank you for a most interesting and challenging year .
And , this included canceling the popular Community Open House in July and their field days attended by hundreds of farmers . But research work and education outreach has continued to support the local agriculture industries and help farmers address their problems .
This year ’ s NWREC Harvest Dinner — normally in late September — which brings together 300 community members had to be canceled as well due to the size of that gathering and
COVID-19 restrictions . Instead , a virtual Harvest Dinner will be held Thursday , Oct . 22 , and everyone is invited !
