on the same road , but destination is never in dispute . The hard work and effort of all of the previous boards has brought us to this point . Our job is not to complete the mission , but to continue the journey . We continue to look at both the current quality of life and the future of Charbonneau .
Annual Meeting
The Charbonneau Country Club Annual Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday , May 19 . As it was last year , it will be a virtual meeting conducted via Zoom . This is to ensure the safety of everyone involved . Three of the nine board positions will be up for election . Declared candidates as of this writing are returning board members Jim Gibbons and John McLain , as well as Judy Brennan . The deadline for candidates submitting their names was March 15 . However , according to our bylaws , nominations from the floor can be accepted at the meeting .
Storm debris
Our CCC Property Manager , Rick Schram , continues to work with the city of Wilsonville Public Works Department , as well as our landscape maintenance contractors in the cleanup effort of our community . Looking around this week , it is hard to imagine that the storm and devastation was only three and a half weeks ago .
Charbonneau lost many trees during February storm .
The golf course crews and volunteers have been busy as well . Two of the three nines are now open for play and the Red Course is not that far from being playable . The costs for the cleanup will be substantial for our HOA . Estimates are over $ 80,000 . The golf course costs will be similar . Because of proper planning , we have the funds in our reserves to restore our community to almost the same condition it was before the storm ( minus a few trees and many limbs ). Many of the trees on Miley Road will be not be saved . These are the Honey Locusts and the damage was too extensive . An optimist would point out that our pruning this year has already been done by mother nature . Since there were no reported injuries or substantial building damage , a little humor is warranted .
New website
The CCC Board has approved the design and development of a new Charbonneau Country Club website . Work has already begun and we will begin coordinating with Media Physics . Charbonneau resident Elaine Swyt will be our liaison and we will be able to make significant improvements to our current website . The new features will include ease of navigation , links to all of the other HOA websites and an ability to update the information in a timelier manner . We also have found the need to increase our correspondence . It is very important to get current email addresses from those that have one . If you are not getting our Neighbor Care bulletins , please contact Jennifer at the CCC office and make sure we have your correct information .

Spring is in the air

As famous golfer Ben Hogan once said , “ The only thing a golfer needs is more daylight !” Well , with daylight savings just passed , we are witness to a few more precious minutes of sunlight each day . A welcome sight after the gray days of winter in
STRATON
Oregon . Our golf courses took a beating with the recent ice storm , but thanks to a wonderful crew of volunteers we are up and running again , ready for play . Spring weather can be unpredictable in the Pacific Northwest , but where flowers bloom , so does hope .
The first day of play for the CWGA is Thursday , April 8 , so get signed up ! Check out the website for details . If you are a new member to our group please plan to attend the New Member Orientation Tuesday , April 6 .
We will continue to observe the COVID-19 restrictions until further notice . With that in mind , a handy rule to follow is “ Bunkers with no Rakes .” If the ball comes to rest in a “ disturbed area ” ( e . g . footstep or impression left by a prior player ), the ball may be placed in an undisturbed or smooth area ( no closer to the hole ) as close as possible to the original spot of the ball without penalty . This is for the lie of the ball only . No relief for stance .
We look forward to a fun and rewarding season . Our optimism got us through last year and we can expect things to gradually improve . In the meantime , with the extra hour of daylight and our beautiful courses ready for play , what are you waiting for ? Live like it ’ s spring and bring your rain gear ! May the course be with you !
