Charbonneau residents will see a bit of musical chairs in leadership after former Charbonneau Country Club Board president Eugene Tish announced he would be stepping down from his position earlier this year .
Gary Newbore , former vice president , has become the board ’ s new president and Kathy Harp returned to the board as vice president .
“ I think it ’ s our job as a board to provide an active , desirable place to live ,” said Gary , adding that he wants to help provide activities for peoples ’ social lives , preserve assets and protect residents ’ quality of life . “ I am looking forward to leading the charge on that .”

start by the end of the year and be open by late spring or early summer next year . It will satisfy this goal !
Last , but certainly MOST important , I want to thank the many people who helped others during the ice storm and power outage . It ’ s a memory now but it was very real then , living for four to five days without electricity . City Councilors Joanne Linnville and Charlotte Lehan , along with city manager Brian Cosgrove worked with PGE to get Charbonneau prioritized so our electricity was on earlier than expected . Our general manager , Jim Meierotto , was in constant contact with these parties as well . Our property manager , Rick Schram , worked almost around the clock to get debris cleaned up so people could get in and out of Charbonneau . Our Emergency Preparedness Committee chaired by John McLain also swung into action as captains checked on people in their area . Sandy Batte was truly amazing in her efforts to help people and
board in 2020 to replace Kamran Mesbah , before being elected as the board ’ s vice president . In a former interview with the Villager , Newbore said he planned to tackle two key issues : the Aurora Airport and Charbonneau Golf Course .
With the goal of the golf course merger recently achieved , Newbore still has many personal goals on the table for Charbonneau , including limiting additional airplane flyovers above the community , increasing use of amenities at Charbonneau and reinvigorating the Village Center .
“ I ’ m excited to keep pushing those ,” Gary said . ‘ They ’ re not board goals , they ’ re my goals .”
He said he ’ s looking forward to the construction of the Activity Center and the permitting of the new restaurant .
Gary said he thinks the biggest difference he will experience as presi-

seemed to be everywhere all at once . Jerry Baker and Dee Andrews had their generators running and became area cellphone charging stations . Jerry had surge strips all over his hallway and family room and a floor full of cellphones being charged . Best of all it was the hundreds of people in Charbonneau reaching out to help their neighbors , friends and the elderly in this community . It was truly awesome and gratifying to watch our community come together and help each other ! I am just so darn proud of this community !
