Wilsonville residents open float therapy business
Soak Box offers float tanks , saunas and even a cold plunge

Working a full-time job , along with raising a family and starting a new business , Sally Novitsky doesn ’ t have much time to relax .
But when she recently took a dip in a salt-filled tank , she felt a little better and was ready to take on the rest of the day . Novitsky and fellow Wilsonville resident Katie Green hope to provide a similar boost to the community through their new business : Soak Box at 30060 SW Boones Ferry , Suite 32 in Wilsonville .
“ I get in here and I get giddy . I ’ m really proud of what we ’ re
building . It ’ s been a joy ,” Green said . “ We are bringing this to our friends and community , and it ’ s going to be exciting to watch grow . We could not be happier .”
Soak Box has three components , the first is the salt-filled floating tanks . Green said the float therapy provides sensory deprivation , leaving the client to lie on their back for 45 minutes with just their thoughts and maybe some soothing sounds . The salt props you up so you don ’ t have to work to float .
“ It ’ s very peaceful . It resets your mind . It rejuvenates you . There ’ s potential sleep benefits . It ’ s good for anxiety and depression . It ’ s good for the creative mind ,” Green said .
The second component is the personal sauna , which Green said provides dry heat rather than the wet heat typically found at a sauna . The sauna heats from the inside rather than out , she added .
“ This is much easier to breathe in , and you get the benefits quicker ,” Green said .
Lastly , Soak Box has a “ cold plunge ” station , where customers can sit in 45- to 50-degree water for around a minute . Some people go back and forth between the cold plunge and sauna , Green added .
The inspiration for Soak Box derived in part from health problems members of Green ’ s family have faced in recent years as well as the heightened awareness of immune system health during the pandemic .
“ When COVID hit , a lot of people started thinking about our immune system and how to boost your immune system and also how do we boost our mindset and get healthy minds ,” Green said . “ These are modalities , things that
