CWGA welcomes new board members

The holiday season is upon us , with a continuation of the COVID-19 restrictions that also dictated a very different CWGA season than normal .
We ’ re still advised to stay home and stay safe , and gatherings are limited to small numbers . This means we will likely miss our holiday party and gift exchange , and the camaraderie of the monthly winter luncheons we have enjoyed when we ’ re not golfing .
Even with that , our new board has already begun planning the 2021 season , in the hope that some of our social traditions will return by spring . To all in Charbonneau , we wish you a safe and healthy holiday season , with many virtual hugs and virtual gatherings , and as many golf outings as the weather permits .
Season wrap-up from Joann Linville
As the outgoing president of the Charbonneau Women ’ s Golf Association , I would like to thank our members for allowing me the opportunity to serve you this past year . I am honored to have been your president and marvel at the wonderful women who are CWGA . Our organization is in excellent leadership hands for whatever 2021 will bring .
This year of 2020 has been exceptional for CWGA . We found that even in the midst of a pandemic , our commitment to the game of golf and to our club was front and center . Although we missed some of our annual events , we accomplished much .
During this year , our intrepid Days Play and Scoring group implemented the use of Golf Genius under the incredible work of Diane Meyers , Ginny Moir , Brenda Hankins , Cathi McLain , Laura Noffke and Kathy Gibbons . Under their leadership , we continued to have creative games and implemented the new World Handicap System which went in place January 2020 . It is remarkable that CWGA had more players playing this year than in many past years . We were thankful to have golf and to be together on the course .
Although our monthly luncheons were not possible , we had virtual board meetings , champagne toasts to our tournament winners for the year , a modified but fun Stagette , all the while welcoming new members and connecting them with Big Sisters . Tournament Co-Chairs Rose Mason , Kathy Stout and Sharon Kadell creatively conducted all our tournaments so not one needed to be canceled . We were even able to award eclectic winners , with Karen Miller providing the direction . We also had a very successful Women ’ s Interclub Play ( WIP ) season , with Peg Wells and Sue Oberg organizing our teams so we continued to compete and represent our club . We collected and distributed scholarship monies to Pro-Shop students and Lynda Huber Marshall sent words of encouragement to members having surgery , illness or experiencing loss .
Under the great organization of Kathy Harp and Jan Landis , CWGA continued to provide assistance and support to the important Charbonneau Men ’ s Club Shoot Out event . Thank you to all members of CWGA for helping staff that event . We owe a heartfelt thank you to the Men ’ s Club for their ongoing financial support of CWGA this year . Their donation of the anticipated funds allowed us to meet our budgeted expenses . Thank you !
As we settle into what appears to be a new normal for the winter and spring and I take on the role of past president , I am thankful for a fun and productive year with a group of incredibly dedicated and talented women . Be safe and stay healthy .
Thank you and congratulations , Joann Linville
CWGA members enthusiastically supported their president , Joann Linville , in her run for Wilsonville City Council , as did most of Charbonneau . We thank her for her years of service on the CWGA board and happily salute her successful campaign to serve a full term as City Council member . Charbonneau is well represented by our talented
