“ You never know where that seed is going to grow ,” said fifth grade charter academy teacher Dan Brown . “ Some of those kids may forget very quickly ; another kid may determine , ‘ This is what I want . This .’ The beauty is trying to grow it in all of them , and for some of them it will really take off ... it only takes one .”

Rising fourth grader Edwin Parise , entering his second year at the charter academy , is heavily involved in several of the school ’ s clubs . But it ’ s the NASA club that has captured his imagination .

“ It ’ s so cool to be a part of a community that loves space ,” he said .

Parise said he hopes to become an astronomer or astronaut one day . While he ’ s been intrigued with space for years , chatting with real life astronauts through the NASA club has furthered his interest .

Community Information Day

Charbonneau Country Club is sponsoring Community Information Day from 5-7 p . m . Thursday , Aug . 11 . This event combines a Newcomers Orientation along with an opportunity for all residents to explore many of the activities , clubs and businesses in Charbonneau .

Charbonneau has a lot to offer including cards and games , art classes , golf , fitness center classes , tennis , karate and more . The Newcomers Orientation will be held in the Pavillion at 4:30 p . m . All residents are welcome to attend but those who have moved to Charbonneau in the last 12 months are sent a special invitation . New residents receive a brief overview of Charbonneau

and then are given an opportunity to have their questions answered by a CCC Board member before they are released to peruse the rest of the clubhouse . While you browse , pick up a glass of wine ($ 1 script will be available ). You can buy tickets for upcoming events , join a club , or just come to socialize with friends and welcome new neighbors . The country club is featuring an entertaining stand-up comedy show , at 3 p . m . on Sunday , Aug . 14 , performed by Randy Riggle , and we are looking forward to it !

Randy has been a seasoned veteran of the comedy scene since 1982 as a nationally touring comedian . His combination of innovative style , quick wit and brilliant impressions has made Randy popular with all types of audiences for many years . He currently tours the nation with three different shows . The “ Nostalgia Show ” is a twohour multimedia show that pays a comedic tribute to the 1950s and ‘ 60s . The

“ Nostalgic Christmas Show ” is a seasonal production that is a 90-minute comedy show about everyone ’ s favorite holiday ! And , of course , his stand-up comedy !

He has written for many comedians including Jay Leno and Joan Rivers as well as opening for acts such as Dennis Miller , Kenny Chesney , Jerry Seinfeld , Ellen Degeneres and Weird Al Yankovic . This talented comedian has appeared nationally on all three major networks including NBC , ABC and CBS . Randy has also performed at some of the country ’ s top comedy clubs including the IMPROV . Most recently , he has become a regular on the strip in Las Vegas .

Tickets go on sale at 9 a . m . Tuesday , Aug . 2 in the Activity Center . Tickets are $ 30 and includes appetizers from Gather + Give . You are welcome to bring your beverage of choice . Doors open at 2 p . m . and the show begins at 3 p . m .
