Utterback closed out a legendary prep wrestling career this past season, completing a second straight unbeaten run to an Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union 115-pound state championship after becoming the second female wrestler to place in the traditional Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament as a sophomore. Utterback also won a state championship as a freshman in the IWOCA girls state wrestling tournament one year before the IGHSAU officially sanctioned the sport.

MOLLY SHAFER

EDDYVILLE-BLAKESBURG-FREMONT
One of the great prep sports careers came to a close this spring as Shafer earned state track and field medals this past spring as part of the girls distance medley and 4x400 relay while also finishing in a tie for sixth in the 2A girls high jump. All that came after Shafer earned elite all-state honors on the volleyball court, being named Class 2A’ s top player, and earning first-team all-state honors for the top-ranked EBF girls basketball team.
Pella Christian
A true four-sport athlete for the Eagles. In the fall, Kacmarynski was an all-conference honorable mention after tallying 116 kills and 58 blocks for a PC team that made it to the regional finals. In the winter, Kacmarynski would receive second team all-conference honors averaging 9.7 points, 9 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 0.9 blocks on 44 % shooting from the floor. Kacmarynski then made her mark on the track in the spring winning another four state titles including defending her 100-meter title with a new state meet record time of 11.92 while PC grabbed their first ever team state title. Kacmarynski finished off her year by helping the softball team reach the regional finals. On the season, she was second on the team with a. 456 batting average and four RBIs to go with her 33 stolen bases.
